Jopper is going to be a platform that brings supply and demand of jobs together, specifically focused in temporary, short term employment. Unlike established employment agencies, Jopper is specialized in the automated mediation of temporary work through innovative mobile technology.
Floor is the owner of a pub in Tilburg and notices that it will be sunny weather tomorrow. This is why Floor expects much more customers on the terrace. In order to be able to serve all customers well, she needs extra staff quickly.
George is a student at Tilburg University. On his schedule, he sees that all his lectures are cancelled tomorrow. Since he is almost going on vacation soon, this would be a great opportunity to earn some extra money.
Floor puts out a message on Facebook, but unfortunately no one responds. Because she urgently needs extra staff, she approaches an employment agency. However, these can not help her on time. Due to a shortage of staff, her bar is missing out on a huge turnover tomorrow.
George is looking on Facebook to find job advertisements for tomorrow. Because he is searching for something temporarily and short term, he isn’t able to find a job in time. George approaches an employment agency. The employment agency promises to call him back with an offer as soon as possible. However, the employment agency got back to him in a couple of days with a number of non-relevant vacancies. George has not been able to fill in his free time and has less money to spend on his vacation.
When a business is in need of employees on short notice, it places a job offer on Jopper’s mobile app. Because of Jopper’s large network of active students, the business manager quickly gets multiple responses. By viewing user profiles and reviews, it's easy to select the best candidates for the job offer. After selecting the best candidate, the candidate gets notified and completes the activities that were listed on the job offer. At the end of each month, the business will receive an invoice from Jopper.
When a student wants to fill in their free time with a temporary job, the student logs in to Jopper's mobile app. The student curates various job offers and applies for the most relevant vacancies. When the employer accepts the student, the student will perform certain activities as listed on the job offer. When the job has been completed, the student will be paid by Jopper.
Afterwards, the student and employer will review each other through a emoji based review system. This allows future users to know what to expect from students and businesses.
The Jopper app has two views; a view for businesses and a view for students. The view for businesses is mainly for placing job offers. The view for students is for applying on job offers and establishing a good reputation. The business view communicates in general, in a formal language what is easy to understand for employers.
The view for students communicates besides text, in an emoji language. This is because the current student generation communicates mostly in a short and simple chat language. The emoji language makes the app more fun, simple and relatable. It moves away from the formal and for some even ‘boring’ environment most established employment agencies use. Jopper translates this visual emoji language to a understandable text language in the business view.
